Neil White Presents Dave Dandy Student Award
On 16th September Neil White from Neil White Financial Services presented the Dave Dandy Prize to Nichole Strachan at the 2011 ACU Scholarship and Awards Ceremony in Ballarat.
Established to honour the memory of Dave Dandy; a paramedic for more than 35 years, a Fire Officer with the CFA and a key architect of the Community Emergency Response Teams in Blackwood and Trentham.
The Dave Dandy Prize recognises a student at ACU who has exhibited a commitment to student life and to paramedicine.
As the 2011 recipient of the award, Nichole, a 3rd year Bachelor of Paramedicine/ Bachelor of Nursing Student at Australian Catholic University embodies the ideals that the Dave Dandy Prize embodies; both in her chosen career and in her personal life.
In addition to her university life, Nichole has a long term involvement in the Scouts and currently holds the position of National Rover Council Executive Training and Development Officer and is responsible for developing online leadership training programmes for 18 to 26 year olds.
In addition Nichole has involvement in supporting overseas aid projects in East Timor, and has spent time overseas undertaking volunteer work in South Africa and Zimbabwe, working with HIV and TB patients in areas of testing, counselling, education, hospital and palliative care and medication transport.
“Neil White Financial Services is proud to support an award which recognises a student who has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting her community, both locally and globally.” said Neil following the ceremony.
“It is important that we recognise the efforts of students such as Nichole, and to assist them achieve their dreams.” he said.
As for her future plans, Nichole is hoping to join the Australian Defence Force as a Nursing Officer and to continue her involvement in AIDs work in East Timor.
